Windsurfing: Ynyslas Estuary Wind Direction: ENE Wind Stength: 35-40 knots Surf / Sea State: Choppy Air Temperature: 15ºC Sea Temperature: 8ºC Weather: Sunny Max Speed: 28.3 (knots - unless stated otherwise) Distance Covered: 10.1 (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
I just couldn't resist another session and the wind was still howling so
after doing 'family things' all day long, a fair bit of gardening and
watching the Grand Prix I headed back to the estuary... When I got there it
was mad, the tide was a fair way in and the water was a mass of foam and
spray, sand was blowing everywhere and the anenometer was hovering around
35 knots.... Absolutely homping!!
As the sputnik and 5m had been a little too much of a handful in the 30
knots this morning (well, it is a pretty big board for me) I decided to go
for some more control this afternoon and rigged my 4.5m and wave board...
Glad I did as it was just perfect. So much more control and responsiveness
meant I could go for it a bit more on the flattish section (although there
was mad chop everywhere), but still play around chop hopping where the chop
was bigger (chest high in places). Had some really nice speed runs which
felt extra fast due to the choppy water and the skittery nature of the
smaller board, had some nice chop hops as well and even managed a few
wave-ridey carves on some of the bigger bits of chop.... Lovely.
